The Little Aebleskiver That Could

Well we got out our monk pan and tried aebleskivers again. Our first try was okay, but our second attempt at aebleskivers came out even better. What is there not to love about a batter that includes beer? (This recipe suggests using beer as a substitute for buttermilk, for those poor people who just ran out of buttermilk. That would be us.) We did this whole batch hollow and served them with apricot jam and powdered sugar. They had a yummy hopsy taste from the beer.

OK, I have to ask...have you seen the commercials for the pancake puff pan or do you have your finger so on the pulse that you channeled that cosmically?
They have the puff pan commercial on a 10 minute rotation on the kids' channels. Our kids don't especially like pancakes and even they've been begging for one of those pans. Ah, the magic of marketing... Anyway, that's pretty cool that you bumped into those in your retro cookbook!
Here's a site where they sell them:

This one actually gives a nod to them being aebleskivers.

No I haven't seen those commercials. I make the baby watch Current TV and Court TV with me, no kiddie channels ... yet. We use an aebleskiver pan from Williams-Sonoma, made by Nordicware, but I am jonesing for an old, heavy, cast-iron one. Someday!
